Version Eleven: “One Second Before Awakening…”

I didn't do anything for most of the day yesterday. In fact, I was so active that I fell asleep in the middle of the afternoon after being prematurely awoken by the houseguests. I later awoke to Jake knocking on my door. Heh, so much for sleeping in.

One thing I've noticed is that during these weekends since I've had The New Job, I now appreciate much more the ability to just be lazy. The only downside is that Jake usually works every weekend afternoon and night, so I end up finding myself somewhat bored on these Saturdays and Sundays with not much to do.

I was staring at WordPress yesterday, having lots of little tidbits to share, but uneasily trying to figure out how to say all of them. I toil over trivial things too much. But hey, what else is there to do on the weekend? At one point, I figured, "Ah, screw it!" and just decided to do a new site design. Then I toiled over how to do it.

It never gets any easier. :D

I wondered about tackling my "Purple One" idea. No good. It's spring, damnit, and I want something light and easy. Thought about using a foto of something I'd taken. No go, either. In disgust, I decided to look away from the computer for a few and just stare at the wall.

Anyone who has seen any recent incarnation of my sleeping quarters can attest to the fact that I'm a huge fan of Salvador Dali. I currently have four separate framed prints of his hanging in my room. My absolute favorite of these bears the title, "One Second Before Awakening from a Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate." I just adore that piece.

It's said to be the expression of a dream that ended prematurely as told to Dali by a friend of his. Now, the dreams I have are few and far between, and I remember most of them for some time after they're over. And although I can't say I've had any that even echoed the objects in the piece, I certainly appreciate being awakened from something just before you get to see how it ends.

Sometimes, there's nothing worse than that. :)

Oh. By the way, this entry and design mark the first on this site to be used with the just-released WordPress 1.2. If you use b2 or an older version of WordPress, upgrade today!
