One of the things I hinted about in the last entry is now coming to pass: Lanphear at Large, exclusively on Newsvine.com.

Newsvine is "a place where anyone can read, write and influence the news." Newsvine is the brainchild of one Mike Davidson, previously known for his creation of sIFR as well as being the Manager of Media Product Development at The Walt Disney Internet Group. Newsvine is a truly collaborative news and discussion engine, and I'm hoping that as the product moves out of beta, more and more people will be using Newsvine to get and contribute their news and opinions.
I first became excited about Newsvine in reading Mike's site. After leaving Troma, I started to think about some serious(-ish) writing again, and this seems to be the way. I think having one subject is a bit too restrictive for my tastes, so I'm going to write about whatever news interests me. Perhaps it might even interest others along the way, no?
It's been nearly three years since my last foray into the legitimate writing world. Some of you long-term fans may remember a short-lived column by yours truly entitled "Let's Make Some Art: The World of Schlock Cinema," an exclusive on director Kevin Smith's MoviePoopShoot.com. Art was quite fun for me to write, and I'm looking forward to doing this again.
So check in on Lanphear at Large from time to time. There are RSS feeds to make sure you don't miss an article, and I'll soon be listing the articles and links on a sidebar for an upcoming revision of this site.
Can you tell I'm excited? Stay tuned…
UPDATE 1/9: When I posted this, I guess I forgot that Newsvine was still a public beta, so unless you have an account, you won't be able to view my column. So yeah, I'll announce when it moves out of beta and the column is live.
